The commissioned study for the redevelopment of the former AZ Medien site in Solothurn has been awarded first prize. Conceived as a mixed-use urban fragment, the project is organised around two complementary outdoor spaces: a public square addressing the city and a shared garden at its centre. Urban form is approached not as an isolated object, but as an active spatial framework shaped by use, everyday life and adaptation over time. The transformation of the existing printshop is central to this approach. Retained and reworked, the former industrial building anchors the project spatially and historically and provides a robust basis for the site’s long-term development.
