Winner of second place, the design by EM2N for the new WWZ energy headquarters in Zug / Baar functions as an important infrastructure in the context of renewable energies and a different kind of presence in the landscape and settlement area, as an ambassador for the sustainable production of energy. Under the leitmotif ‘form follows construction’ a building that makes an archaic impression was created whose character is shaped almost exclusively by the logic of the given structural circumstances, by the long-term plans to extend the building by moving the two end walls, and by the constraints of a construction method that uses prefabricated timber elements and earth.
