The New Museum of Natural History Basel and State Archives Basel-City has received Bronze in the category ‘Public Buildings, Recreation and Sport’ at the Erich Mendelsohn Award 2026 for Brick Architecture. The facade is articulated through a principle of assembly and layering: fields of brickwork, mortar joints and cast-in-place concrete bands combine to form a monolithic envelope around the museum and archive.
